Caseta [Spanish: for box] is also known as a security house in Mexico’s warehouse and manufacturing industry. The new Caseta structure will become Entrada Group’s main entry and access point for all cargo, vendor, and pedestrian traffic.
The building’s vernacular is derived from standard manufacturing shed, utilizing economic structural and sheathing components: steel purlin, z-girt, wrapped with metal siding and roofing, resting on concrete piers. This super shed is one structural bay resting over two existing roadways that access the park.
The Structure is enclosed at the roof, yet remains open air from the all sides to provide shade and air flow during the day and artificial lighting at night for cargo inspections and pedestrian safety. Beneath the super shed are all conditioned spaces enclosed in modified sea containers. Containers will house security offices, transportation offices, and restroom facilities. Container modifications include floor to ceiling storefront assemblies for visual accessibility, and interior build-out for insulation and services. The design is best understood as a practical kit of parts designed to produce a unique solution.
